Today I felt like super mom!

We started off the day (after our morning nap) with a nice long walk in the stroller…this would be our very first walk in the stroller and we did great! Up until now Fiona would have to ride in her car seat which locks into the stroller…and well…let’s just say her and the car sear aren’t the best of friends…besides, who wants to be stuck staring at the sky when you’re out on a walk? But now she can sit in the “big girl” seat in the stroller. She still slumps to one side and can’t totally sit up…I suppose I should be stuffing towels around her or something to help keep her upright but she didn’t seem to mind. We stuck to the pavement after trying out the gravel…I think our neck needs another month before we’re ready for that. Zoe was super psyched and we all had a great time.

Next after our afternoon nap (which we are still working on so it really ends up being a few small naps closely synched together) we went back outside and this time I put Fiona in her car seat with a toy in the shade while I attempted to mow the back yard. IT WORKED! I wasn’t sure if it would or not but she loved it, she just sat and stared at the trees, she would play for a bit with her toy but mostly she just looked all around. Zoe kept close tabs on her like a faithful side kick should.

Later we splashed in the water in a large tupperware container ( mom might need to spring for a real pool ) and then layed in the grass with our puppy enjoying the warm breeze.

The most amazing part of today……We did not bounce on the bouncy ball ONE SINGLE TIME….this is the first day in the last 14 weeks ( it took us about one week to discover the ball ) that I have not bounced on that ball. I can’t say that I missed it!

We’ve been close to days like this before and I always feel on these days this sense of balance and timing. Like I’m more in tune with what’s going on and am able to meet her needs before she’s able to melt down. It’s like when you’re first learning to skate….you start off all choppy and then after awhile you would get into a groove and get some rhythm going….it would all feel right and you could really begin to see the pure joy of skating….until you hit a small bump or you catch the inside of your skate and you are thrown back into a choppy-arm flailing learch….after time you’re able to skate through all that and those little bumps are hardly noticed….I’m hoping it will be the same for motherhood.

Love the skating analogy – so true. I have a feeling we will feel small bumps here and there throughout life.. or maybe they will be more like the random CRASHES avoiding that car that didn’t see you or hitting that pot hole you missed… ??? ha ha So glad you had a great day… maybe the pixie or fairy dust or whatever of 12 weeks was just a bit delayed for you! :) It’s days like that that make it all worthwhile.

Go SUPER MOM. Wow.. you mowed the yard. Impressive! Don’t tell Tom!

  2. Love the photo of Zoe on her back on the grass. Gretchen used to do that in the sun and it was such a great display of pure joy. I still miss her.
