Just an Observation June 19, 2007

When Fi was first born we were told by many people that the first few months are the hardest. Then we heard that months 4 to 8 were the hardest. My friend informed me that the first 6 months are the hardest and just the other day my neighbor said, “oh yah, the first year…it’s the hardest”. At a party a friend with grown kids told us that the teenage years were by far the hardest and online last night I read that , “really, months 9 to 18 are the hardest”.

Is it the kid or the parents that determine which months are the hardest? Or both? Is it ever easy? If it was would there be more or less people in the world?

I think it might be that where ever you’re at at that moment is the hardest. Just human nature.

I think it depends on the parent and maybe the child… for example. I know plenty of moms that have said the stage I’m in is the hardest b/c they are so active and you are always chasing them, but I LOVE this stage and would rather chase them than deal w/ them screaming b/c they can’t move… :) ha I think the talking back phase will be MUCH harder on me than this phase is.

Hi-Excellent observation!! Honestly, I think it’s all relative, and depends on what you’re going through at the moment. Diaper changing vs potty training? Waking up every few hours during the night vs hearing that little-but adamant-voice call down to you at 8:30pm, when you thought she was alseep for the last 20 minutes, “I’m not tired. I’m awake! Is it morning?” Well, you get the idea. The list of examples goes on…
